Leading The Industry in Technology Development

Our engineering expertise extends to a commitment to developing technologies for transformers and components that provide unique benefits to our customers.  No one else in the marketplace is pushing the envelope to benefit our customers like Virginia Transformer.

Our Team was at the TechAdvantage show this week sharing with customers examples of our technologies across a wide range of applications, including:

  • We developed a 525kV insulation system for 1675 BIL (Insulation structure of Cores Coils & Assembly and lead routing of 525kV to the bushings), utilizing 3D finite element analysis.
  • Development of high current - 10kA, routing of leads to mitigate temperature of structural components - Utilizing Magnetic Shielding techniques.
  • Creation of Low Noise Large Power Transformers utilizing material characteristics and vibrational analysis - achieved 20dB below NEMA Standard.
  • We produced Partial Discharge (PD)-free transformers (Low PD level) - Utilizing dielectric field analysis and finite element method (less than 50 PC).
  • Development of 345kV Delta connected insulation system.

And many, many more.  Our development work is part of our DNA to perform for our customers and part of everything we do – we can provide examples or more than 30 345kV units that we produced that are being used by customers today.
