Virginia Transformer recently delivered and installed a 10 MVA, 23/13.8 kV power distribution transformer for Hibbing Public Utilities (HPU) in Hibbing, Minnesota. This new unit will help provide reliable, uninterrupted power to more than 15,000 residents in the area.

HPU owns and operates a cogeneration power plant for the citizens of Hibbing, which provides both steam and electricity for distribution to its service area. The utility also furnishes water and natural gas services to the City of Hibbing proper, Kitzville, and Kelly Lake.
