Virginia Transformer recently delivered a new transformer to East River Electric Cooperative’s Hanson County substation in South Dakota, as part of our ongoing effort to strengthen the U.S. electrical grid. Built at our facility in Pocatello, Idaho, this 33.6/56 MVA, 115/69 kV autotransformer will help power homes and businesses in the community and surrounding areas.
Headquartered in Madison, South Dakota, East River Electric is a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative. East River receives power from Basin Electric Power Cooperative and Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) and delivers it to 24 member electric cooperatives and one member municipal utility in eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota.
Virginia Transformer is proud to support rural electric cooperatives throughout the United States by supplying units designed with a 60-year lifespan and delivered with the shortest lead times in the industry. Congratulations to our manufacturers’ representative from EUSCO, Jacob Edland, who led this sale, and all those involved who helped to design, manufacture, and deliver this unit.
