Pennsylvania Gas Facility Chooses VTC

As part of our commitment to supporting customers in the important natural gas market, we recently delivered two transformers to MPLX’s Harmon Creek 3 gas processing facility in Washington County, Pennsylvania. Built at our P2 plant in Chihuahua, Mexico, these 30/50 MVA, 138/13.8 kV and 20/33.333 MVA, 138/4.16 kV power distribution units were designed with a 60-year lifespan to provide decades of reliable power for MPLX’s operations.

Formed in 2012 by Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC), MPLX is engaged in the gathering, processing and transportation of natural gas; the transportation, fractionation, storage and marketing of natural gas liquids (NGLs); the gathering, transportation, storage and distribution of crude oil, refined products, other hydrocarbon-based products and renewables; as well as refining logistics and fuels distribution services. MPLX is currently expanding their Harmon Creek facility, adding a 300 MMcf/d (million cubic feet per day) processing plant and 40,000 bbls/d (barrels per day) de-ethanizer, which are expected to be fully operational by mid-2026.

Virginia Transformer is proud to support commercial and industrial projects across the country by delivering the highest-quality transformers with the shortest lead times in the industry. Congratulations to our manufacturers’ representative from JC Scott & Associates, Ryan Scott, who led this sale, and all those involved who helped to design, manufacture, and deliver this unit.
