The Production Supervisor is responsible to supervise his department to meet job production work scopes, schedules and hours as established by the Engineering/Planning Department and as directed by the Production Manager.
Preplanning Duties:
Review work scopes and perform required inspections.
Attend the job walk around to discuss necessary work scope to complete job.
Review material list submitted by Planning for accuracy.
Plan department work flow to maximize efficiency and space.
Work In Progress Duties:
Review work scope, Job Production Books and Engineering Drawings for accuracy.
Meet with the crew assigned to the job daily. Discuss safety, work scope, schedule, allotted hours, required manning, and tooling issues.
Attend all production meetings, job walks and daily production reviews for work scope changes and material delivery requirements.
Call for QC inspections and Audits when required or as outlined in the Job Production Book.
Job Closing Duties:
Complete and turn in to QA/QC the Job Production Book and have unit ready for inspection.
Additional Duties:
Resolve employee grievances when possible.
Review and approve daily time sheets for department crews.
c)Ensure safety requirements are met in assigned area(s).
Review department tooling requirements. Turn in requisitions as required.
Train personnel as required.
Adhere to rules and policies as defined in the Employee Manual, QA Manual and Procedure Manual.
Continually review processes and systems for efficiency improvements and upgrades.
To keep assigned areas clean and orderly.
Attend to all other duties as requested by the Plant Manager.
Required Skills:
An understanding of transformer windings, core & coil assemblies, accessories including tap changer types and operation.
An understanding of QA inspection points and audits required for transformer manufacturing.
Be familiar with word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets and other pertinent software used by VTCU.
Be able to effectively create, review, and communicate technical instructions with other employees.
Be proficient reading customer specifications to ensure compliance with respect to job work scope, engineering standards, and ANSI requirements.
