Iraq Reconstruction Project
Virginia Transformer Corp’s engineering expertise
and short production cycle times made us the
supplier of choice when Halliburton / KBR under
contract with the US Army Corp of Engineers needed
transformers to support the “Restore Iraq Oil”
project.
In the early stages of the Iraq rebuilding
campaign, KBR received a $7 billion dollar, two year
contract to restore their oil production. Since
the Iraqi power grid was in shambles, Halliburton /
KBR decided to install on site gas fired generators
and transformers to re-power the water injection
pumps which drive oil up out of the ground. The
fast pace of the project dictated that they align
themselves with responsive and highly capable
vendors.
VTC provided the engineering, manufacturing, and
delivery of 11 @ 15/20/25 MVA, 11 kV to
6.6/3.3 kV, 50 Hz step down transformers to the Qarmat Ali water injection facility. From receipt
of the order to air shipment from Washington Dulles
VTC took only seven weeks to execute the entire
order – unheard of in an industry where cycle times
are measured in months.
